A forest fire destroyed a farmhouse in western Canada. As the embers cooled, the farmer was walking over the ruins and noticed a burned lump on the ground. It was one of his hens. When he turned the hen over, three chirping baby chicks emerged. The hen saved the lives of her helpless brood at the cost of her own life.
Jesus, who once used a hen analogy Himself (Matthew 23:37), did the same. He laid down His life to save ours. We can emerge from the smoldering ruins of sin because of the Savior’s sacrifice for sin.
